Many women are overweight, then find ways to be able to lose weight quickly. Psychological grasp, many salons offer attractive advertising such as slimming massage, melt belly fat. However, its performance is not really as they said.

1. Massage increases the activity of the musculoskeletal

This is only a passive approach stimulates the circulatory system in place rather increases musculoskeletal activity. Therefore, in principle there is no power consumption during the massage.

2. Steaming, hot wrapping

Steaming only causes the body to sweat more, causing weight loss-in short time. But after that, the body will adjust and add water to balance physiological. So losing weight by this way is not substance. It is only useful when you need to quickly fit in the beautiful dress in a certain event.

3. Cellulite cream

When using this method, it is only effective same as massage. Even when the active ingredient in the cream really work, it is difficult to take the fat penetrates deep as lower abdomen, hips, thighs. Currently, some salons use that methods with herbal, advertise that will lose belly fat and help increase fat metabolism, but the real effect is not clear yet.

4. Reduce fat by using electrical impulses

It is considered very little effective. Although, in terms of form, the movement also happens, but it is kind of passive movement, very low energy consumption, not even compare with walking.

5. Abdominal liposuction

This cause subcutaneous fat in the waist area, abdomen, thighs reduced significantly. However, this is how beauty affects health. Weight loss after liposuction is not entirely fat that contains nearly 60% water.

6. Abdominal belts and heated massage

The effects of abdominal belts certainly lower than the hand massage. Temperature to melt the fat in the body is often very high. So, unable to melt the fat under the temperature that does not hurt the skin and other cells.

Model of a standard Mc Donald meal includes: fries, hamburger and cocacola

People think McDonalds or other fast food type are the causes of obesity due to using too much greasy, and fatty meat and ect. Even McDonald has been forced to reduce the fat content in their product - ie using lean beef, then reduce grease in potato chips, reduced fat mayonnaise sauce etc

Yet, eventually the number of obese people because of McDonald gave no reduction, even increased. Although McDonald tried hard to reduce fats in their meal?

So the reason is? The answer is simple. We have concluded the wrong culprit of obesity. The culprit is obesity, not fat, or lipid. But which is in rapid metabolism Carb – in Mc Donald case is cocacola’s sugar, hamburger shells made from refined wheat flour, potato starch filled.

Because of misperceptions perpetrators of obesity. We have failed in the fight against the obesity epidemic - simply because the reduction of fat in the daily meal will lead us enhance more carbohydrate to eat up to replace -> fat becomes fatter.

SO WRONG

Being too heavy may cost you your life — literally. Scientists say overweight people die one year earlier than expected and that moderately obese people die up to three years prematurely.

Doctors have long warned that being overweight can lead to health complications including heart disease, stroke and cancer, and previous studies have already found that extra pounds can take years off your life, based mostly on data from Europe and North America.

In the new study, which the authors say is the largest-ever such analysis, researchers sifted through data for nearly 4 million non-smoking adults in 32 countries published from 1970 to last year. They compared the risk of death to people's body mass index, or BMI, a measure of body fat that is calculated using height and weight.

Overweight people lose a year of life on average and moderately overweight people lose three years, said Richard Peto of Oxford University, one of the study authors. A previous study found that being severely obese could cost as much as eight years of life.

The study also found that being obese is far more dangerous for men than for women.

"The excess risk of premature death is about three times as big for a man who gets fat as for a woman who gets fat," Peto said. Men tend to be higher risk for earlier death in general, and the risk worsens when obesity is added to the equation, he said.

According to the World Health Organization, 15 percent of women worldwide and 11 percent of men are obese. Overall, the WHO estimates that more than 1 billion adults are overweight and another 600 million people are obese.

Carrying too much weight is now second to smoking as a cause of premature death in North America and Europe; smoking causes about a quarter of all premature deaths there while being too heavy now causes about 14 to 20 percent of such deaths.

Peto acknowledged that more is needed than to simply advise people to lose weight, because dropping even a few pounds and keeping them off is notoriously difficult.

"It might be easier to recommend that people try very hard not to put on weight in the first place, particularly before they hit middle age," he said

Childhood obesity is a complex health issue. It occurs when a child is well above the normal or healthy weight for his or her age and height. The main causes of excess weight in youth are similar to those in adults, including individual causes such as behavior and genetics. Behaviors can include dietary patterns, physical activity, inactivity, medication use, and other exposures. Additional contributing factors in our society include the food and physical activity environment, education and skills, and food marketing and promotion.

Consequences of obesity

Health risks now

  • Obesity during childhood can have a harmful effect on the body in a variety of ways. Children who are obese have a greater risk of –
  • High blood pressure and high cholesterol, which are risk factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD). In one study, 70% of obese children had at least one CVD risk factor, and 39% had two or more.
  • Increased risk of impaired glucose tolerance, insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes.
  • Breathing problems, such as sleep apnea, and asthma.
  • Joint problems and musculoskeletal discomfort.
  • Fatty liver disease, gallstones, and gastro-esophageal reflux (i.e., heartburn).
  • Psychological stress such as depression, behavioral problems, and issues in school.
  • Low self-esteem and low self-reported quality of life.
  • Impaired social, physical, and emotional functioning.

Health risks later

  • Children who are obese are more likely to become obese adults. Adult obesity is associated with a number of serious health conditions including heart disease, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and cancer.
  • If children are obese, obesity and disease risk factors in adulthood are likely to be more severe

Author Notes: I have just read this new this morning and I think Obesity is not only a problem for adult but also for children. "Prevention is better than cure". So to prepare a better future for our child we should change our habit from now. To be a good example for them, to guide them, we have to take a good care of ourself. Change your diet, exercise more and teach your child about how to select healthy food. That's when OBESITY can not harm us anymore.

Being overweight increases the chances of developing the common type of diabetes, type 2 diabetes. In this disease, the body makes enough insulin but the cells in the body have become resistant to the salutary action of insulin. Why does this happen?

New Research: A report this week in Science proposes that being overweight stresses the insides of individual cells. Specifically, overeating stresses the membranous network inside of cells called endoplasmic reticulum(ER). When the ER has more nutrients to process than it can handle, it sends out an alarm signal telling the cell to dampen down the insulin receptors on the cell surface. This translates to insulin resistance and to persistently high concentrations of the sugar glucose in the blood -- one of the sure signs of diabetes.

How does my weight relate to type 2 diabetes?

There are many risk factors for type 2 diabetes such as age, race, pregnancy, stress, certain medications, genetics or family history, high cholesterol and obesity. However, the single best predictor of type 2 diabetes is overweight or obesity. Almost 90% of people living with type 2 diabetes are overweight or have obesity. People who are overweight or have obesity have added pressure on their body's ability to use insulin to properly control blood sugar levels, and are therefore more likely to develop diabetes. The number of diabetes cases among American adults increased by a third during the 1990s, and additional increases are expected. This rapid increase in the occurrence of diabetes is mostly attributed to the growing prevalence of obesity in the United States.

What can you do to prevent diabetes?

Type 2 diabetes is largely preventable. Studies have found that lifestyle changes and small amounts of weight loss in the range of 5-10% can prevent or delay the development of type 2 diabetes among high-risk adults. Lifestyle interventions including diet and moderate to intense physical activity (such as walking for 150 minutes per week) were used in these studies to produce small amounts of weight loss. The development of diabetes was reduced by 40% to 60% during these studies, which lasted three to six years. Preventing weight gain, increasing activity levels and working toward small amounts of weight loss if you are overweight can have a big impact on the likelihood that you will develop diabetes in the future. Thus far, weight management is the best thing you can do to prevent the development of diabetes.

What can you do if you already have diabetes?

You can have a positive influence on your blood sugar and your overall health by choosing foods wisely, exercising regularly, reducing your stress levels, making modest lifestyle changes and using medications to lower blood glucose levels. Type 1 diabetic patients must have insulin exogenously applied to maintain healthy blood glucose levels. Type 2 diabetic patients, however, can use insulin or drugs that sensitize their bodies to insulin, which work quite well in lowering blood glucose levels. Unfortunately, these drugs are not without risk as they, as well as the exogenous application of insulin, can often cause diabetic patients to suffer from low blood glucose levels (hypoglycemia) if taken improperly, which may result in seizures, unconsciousness, or death. Small amounts of weight loss (losing 10 pounds or more) can decrease the amounts of these medications needed to keep your blood sugar levels within a healthy range by lowering your blood glucose levels, which furthermore reduces the risk of diabetic complications. Ultimately, better nutrition, increased physical activity, and control of blood glucose levels can delay the progression of diabetes and help prevent the complications associated with the disease.

Author notes: I have posted about the health effect of Obesity before and even have told you about my parent's situations. That's why I will try to research more about how to reduce the effect of Diabetes as less as possible. I have even asked Dr Anh (the owner of DAS method) that if I have any chance to cure Diabetes by following DAS and he said yes. However, I still need to discuss with him more about the research to prove what he said is true (I will post it later). Anyway, you have to try your best to stay healthy. Exercie and eating "healthy food" is all you can do to prevent yourself from any diseases.

Obesity has a far-ranging negative effect on health. Each year obesity-related conditions cost over 150 billion dollars and cause an estimated 300,000 premature deaths in the US. The health effects associated with obesity include, but are not limited to, the following:

High blood pressure

- Additional fat tissue in the body needs oxygen and nutrients in order to live, which requires the blood vessels to circulate more blood to the fat tissue. This increases the workload of the heart because it must pump more blood through additional blood vessels. More circulating blood also means more pressure on the artery walls. Higher pressure on the artery walls increases the blood pressure. In addition, extra weight can raise the heart rate and reduce the body's ability to transport blood through the vessels.

Diabetes

- Obesity is the major cause of type 2 diabetes. This type of diabetes usually begins in adulthood but, is now actually occurring in children. Obesity can cause resistance to insulin, the hormone that regulates blood sugar. When obesity causes insulin resistance, the blood sugar becomes elevated. Even moderate obesity dramatically increases the risk of diabetes.
Heart disease – Atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) is present 10 times more often in obese people compared to those who are not obese. Coronary artery disease is also more prevalent because fatty deposits build up in arteries that supply the heart. Narrowed arteries and reduced blood flow to the heart can cause chest pain (angina) or a heart attack. Blood clots can also form in narrowed arteries and cause a stroke.
Joint problems, including osteoarthritis - Obesity can affect the knees and hips because of the stress placed on the joints by extra weight. Joint replacement surgery, while commonly performed on damaged joints, may not be an advisable option for an obese person because the artificial joint has a higher risk of loosening and causing further damage.

Sleep apnea and respiratory problems

- Sleep apnea, which causes people to stop breathing for brief periods, interrupts sleep throughout the night and causes sleepiness during the day. It also causes heavy snoring. Respiratory problems associated with obesity occur when added weight of the chest wall squeezes the lungs and causes restricted breathing. Sleep apnea is also associated with high blood pressure.

Cancer

- In women, being overweight contributes to an increased risk for a variety of cancers including breast cancer, colon, gallbladder, and uterus. Men who are overweight have a higher risk of colon cancer and prostate cancers.
Metabolic syndrome - The National Cholesterol Education Program has identified metabolic syndrome as a complex risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Metabolic syndrome consists of six major components: abdominal obesity, elevated blood cholesterol, elevated blood pressure, insulin resistance with or without glucose intolerance, elevation of certain blood components that indicate inflammation, and elevation of certain clotting factors in the blood. In the US, approximately one-third of overweight or obese persons exhibit metabolic syndrome.

Psychosocial effects

- In a culture where often the ideal of physical attractiveness is to be overly thin, people who are overweight or obese frequently suffer disadvantages. Overweight and obese persons are often blamed for their condition and may be considered to be lazy or weak-willed. It is not uncommon for overweight or obese conditions to result in persons having lower incomes or having fewer or no romantic relationships. Disapproval of overweight persons expressed by some individuals may progress to bias, discrimination, and even torment.
Author note: Hey buddies, both my parent have diabetes type 2 and yes my family is almost everyone is overweight. That's when I found this article to day and feel so depress (maybe I and my brother will be next). If we did take care our body well enough then no one has any diseases So please, you guys, try to lose weight as soon as you can (you don't have to be thin as model you just need to get healthy for your life). Because when you get sick, everything becomes really hard to deal with :( Try your best and good luck.
